Vicky B. Robinson

Arthur W. Merritt

Vicky B. Robinson was born in Salem, Arkansas in December of 1960. She, being the oldest of four, and her family eventually moved to Tampa, Florida in the winter of 1969.

After finishing High School, she met Rick (“Big Rick”) Robinson, a Survey Party Chief with Heidt & Associates, Inc. at the time, and they married in July of 1978.  In March of 1979, Vicky gave birth to “Little Rick” and was a stay-at-home mom until Little Rick started school.

Being closely knit with her husband working at Heidt & Associates, Inc., she became employed by them in August of 1984 at an entry level as a file clerk. It was there that she, almost instantly, showed her tremendous work ethic. She had a way about her to take control of a situation and have it smoothly running in absolutely no time at all.

At that time Heidt & Associates, Inc. was a fast-growing company being enhanced by the influence of the latest technology and the implementation of the Personal Computer Era. Noticing her tremendous work ethic, she was brought into the “Computer Department” at Heidt, where all of the field work from the almost 40 crews was converted into electronic data to be used for Subdivision Layout, Boundary Surveys and Platting. This is where her first connection with Arthur W. Merritt started, some 37 years ago, as he also worked in the Computer Room at the time.

Then came the era of AutoCAD, where we changed from “Hand Drafting” to “Computer Aided Drafting”. Vicky’s love of reading and her thirst for learning allowed her to be self-taught in AutoCAD along with becoming well versed in IT with the fast-paced ongoing development of AutoCAD.

As time progressed Art became a Licensed Florida Professional Land Surveyor and the head of the Computer Department with Vicky right by his side. The department would eventually expand to 12 people and then in the downturn of the early 1990’s be reduced to just Art & Vicky. It was then evident that Art & Vicky were the core of the department and something that is true to this day.

Through the 1990’s and early 2000’s, Vicky would continue to grow and grow. She was the IT person, the CAD Draftsperson, the person to research recorded title documents, and so much more. It seemed like there wasn’t anything in the world of Land Surveying that she couldn’t do, other than signing and sealing a survey.

During all the years at Heidt, Vicky became so well respected by not only her coworkers, but by clients and others in the local land development community.  Then came the downturn of Heidt & Associates, Inc. in 2009, which forced the startup of AMERRITT, INC.

The combination of Art & Vicky became an instant success as AMERRITT, INC. and Vicky is no doubt a vital part of that success to date.
